Careers Expo. To view all answers

one of our other Expo pages, please
contact us.
|
Q) What is the Expo?
The Careers Expo is a chance for students to meet and discuss employment opportunities with organisations
interested in UNSW graduates. Employers will be looking for students who stand out from the crowd so it is important
for you to research the organisations and to impress them with your questions on the day.
|
|
Q) Where will the Expo be held?
The Expo will be held at Randwick Pavilion, AJC Convention Centre, Royal Randwick Racecourse.
Entry via the Members' Entrance, Alison Rd, Randwick.
Free parking is available at the Racecourse.
Shuttle buses will operate from Gate 2 and Gate 9, High St. When you register to attend, please nominate if you wish to use the shuttle bus service.
You must bring your student card or similar proof of enrolment.
|
|
Q) Which organisations are attending the Expo?
Review our listing of Participating Organisations regularly to ensure you are up-to-date with the latest participating organisations.
Organisations are asked to provide an Employer Profile. You are encouraged to research their listing and relevant links to their website prior to the Expo.
Online information is updated at regular intervals as additional
organisations confirm their attendance, so remember to check our online information regularly.

|
Q) How do I register for the Expo?
|
|
Q) Are there conditions of entry?
All students will be required to produce their official UNSW student card. Student cards will be swiped
by a magnetic card reader at the entrance.
If you are a UNSW graduate you will need proof that you were a student (preferably your student card).
Students will be required to carry their student card (or alternative proof of identity) at the Expo, and show
it upon demand to any UNSW staff member.
The University reserves the right to refuse entry, or revoke the invitation of any student at the
Expo for any reason.
|
|
Q) How do I prepare for the Expo?
Research the participating organisations as outlined in the 'Which organisations are attending the Expo?' question, above.
If you are a final year student, attend an Expo preparation workshop.
This will ensure you are able to attend the Priority Hour from 12noon to 1pm.
Employers prefer to speak to well prepared students. This is also an opportunity to make a positive impression before the rush.
Review our Preparation Tips as well as the Employer Feedback from the 2006 Expo.
|
|
Q) I am not a final year student. Can I still attend?
If you are not a final year student or a UNSW graduate, you are welcome to attend from
1pm to 5pm.
|
|
Q) I am not a UNSW student. Can I attend?
If you are from a Sydney metropolitan university, then
your careers service probably runs its own Careers Expo.
You are urged to attend that event instead of ours.
Organisations attending the UNSW Careers Expo expect to speak to
UNSW students.
If you are from a regional University that does not run a
Careers Expo, please
contact us
about eligibility to attend.
|
|
Q) Which organisations can I apply to? I am a:
- postgraduate student or
- international student, who does NOT yet have Australian
Permanent Residency (PR)
Each organisation of course is free to set its own recruitment
policy. As a result, ONLY SOME of the organisations participating
in the Careers Expo will welcome an application from you. If you go
ahead and apply indiscriminately you will only be wasting time -
theirs and yours!
So check first who they are targeting by researching their
Employer Profile
and their website.
The Department of
Immigration and Citizenship
will be located at booth
#120 in the Shannon Room to
talk to you about the newest
and most appropriate visas
for international students.
|
|
Q) I can't attend on that day. Will the Expo be held on another day?
The Careers Expo is held only once a year.
The dates for each year's Expo are published well in advance,
and are coordinated to avoid clashes with other UNSW events
as well as other university Careers Expos and religious holidays.
You are advised to make necessary arrangements to attend
if you think that it is important to speak to these
organisations.
