How the service can help you

Vocational Guidance Workshop - Identify Your Career Options
This workshop is held over 2 Thursday evenings and is particularly useful if you are unsure about your career direction or wish to change careers. This workshop will help you to identify career options that more closely match your most important values, interests and key skills and strengths. In this workshop you will:
  • Develop an understanding of the career planning process
  • Complete vocational assessment tools to learn about your:

  • - Career interests
    - Most important values
    - Personality style
    - Key skills and knowledge areas
  • Identify your top 3 career options and learn how to research and evaluate them to find a satisfying career direction
  • Develop a Career Action Plan, including setting goals and identifying any potential obstacles that might hold you back
Dates:
6th & 13th March, 2008 (Fully booked)
15th & 22nd May, 2008

Time: 6:00 to 8:00 pm

The fee for this workshop is $150 (including GST). This fee includes the cost of the Occupational Search Inventory and other career planning materials.  To register for this workshop you will need to complete a workshop registration form - please contact us for further details.  Follow-up sessions can be arranged based on your needs and are charged at a rate of $110 per hour (including GST).

Individual Vocational Assessment Service
You can also explore your strengths, interests, preferences and career options with a Careers Counsellor on an individual basis. This service includes:

  • An initial phone interview to assess your needs.
  • A range of vocational assessment tools to help identify your career interests, personality style, values and abilities.
  • A one hour individual feedback and counselling session to discuss assessment results and other relevant information obtained during the initial phone contact and their implications for possible career options.

The fee for this service is $110 per hour (including GST). This fee covers the cost of the initial interview, assessment tools, plus a one-hour session with a Careers Counsellor. Additional sessions can be arranged based on your needs and are charged at a rate of $110 per hour (including GST).

Other Services
Other services we offer include:

  • Coaching and feedback on Resume and Cover Letter preparation
  • Videoed Interview practice with feedback from a careers counsellor
  • Information and guidance on pursuing a particular career direction
  • Assistance with the preparation of selection criteria for roles in the public and university sector
  • Assistance in assessing skills gaps and in choosing further training/education options
  • Career transition support and guidance

The fee for these services is $110 per hour (including GST).

Who the Service is available to
The service is available to members of the public including school students, students of other universities and people experiencing or seeking career transition.

Where we are located
Our service is conducted on campus at the University of New South Wales in Careers and Employment. We are conveniently located mid-campus, with entry via Gate 8 on High St in Kensington.
